Long-Term Development Over Short-Term Wins
We prioritize growth that lasts. Just as Dave focused on developing players for life, not just the next game, this fund supports student-athletes who are committed to steady, long-term progress.
The Wallace Legacy Fund is grounded in the values that shaped Dave Wallace’s life and coaching. These principles guide how we support student-athletes and how we hope they will carry themselves on and off the field. As the namesake and first recipient of the Canadian Baseball Network Honoured Coach Award, the fund follows the same elite standards Dave established throughout his coaching career.
Core Values
Effort and Character Everywhere
We believe the way you show up matters—on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. We look for students who bring their best effort and strong character to every part of their lives.
No Shortcuts, Generosity, and Building for Others
Dave believed that real success comes from doing the work the right way, giving more than you take, and helping build something bigger than yourself. This fund honours that spirit by supporting those who lead with integrity, generosity, and a builder’s mindset.

Investing in equipment, coaching development, and facility access to maintain the elite standards Dave Wallace established throughout his career.

This scholarship is open to all Senior Royals players in their graduating year.

Please note: This scholarship is only active for current Royals players and any player that has graduated and is currently playing in University or over the age of 18 is not eligable to apply. This is effective Sept 2026.Â
Art / Athlete Scholarship
As Dave ensured he supported all areas of the arts along with his wife Judy and their family, the Legacy Fund believes that giving back to the arts community is integral on helping students pursuing opportunities in the Arts Programs.

Dave was also the president of Minor Hockey in Parksville for a few years, along with his passion for soccer growing up in Victoria, so the fund is also open to applications from students in other sports as well.Â
Â
Starting in 2027, the fund will provide scholarship opportunities for students to apply to the Wallace Legacy Fund.

Please note: This scholarship is only active for current graduating students. The application is closed to all applicants who are already in post secondary or graduated from high school.Â
